Carbon filament lamp


In this type of lamp carbon filament is fitted in a evacuated glass bulb
hence it is known as carbon filament lamp. Melting point of carbon is about
3S00'C while the working temperature of this lamp is about 1600 to 1800'C.

This type o Lamp is mostly suitable for battery charging. Eficiency of this
lamp is 2 to 3.5 watt per candle power and lite is about 800 hours. It is
available 15 W, 100 W and 230 W. Carbon posseses negative temperature

coefficient hence filament draws more current and offers less effiCiency.
